Development of innovative technology in the field of high-quality raw materials from refractory ceramics scrap, to increase the recycling of composite waste under Measure 1.2 Sectoral R & D programs of the Intelligent Development Operational Program 2014-2020 (INNOSTAL) co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

AArcelorMittal Refractories Sp. z o.o. on the basis of the Subsidy Contract No. POlip. 01.02.00-00-0175 / 16 of 28/04/2016, implements the Project: Development of innovative technology in the field of high-quality raw materials from refractory ceramics scrap, in order to increase the recycling of composite waste under Measure 1.2 Sectoral R & D programs of the Intelligent Development Operational Program 2014-2020 (INNOSTAL) co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (hereinafter: ERDF).

The subject of the project is to undertake industrial research and development works on the development of innovative technology for the recovery and use of high-quality refractory materials from refractory ceramics scrap in the production of new varieties of non-oxide products with additives modifying microstructure and useful properties for use in metallurgy thermal devices. The technology will allow to obtain innovative, currently unavailable on the market, varieties of oxide-nonoxide products with modified microstructure while maintaining favorable functional properties ensuring the maintenance of cyclic liquid treatment of steel in thermal metallurgy devices, especially the process of steel refining in converters.

The implementation of this project is closely related to the need to increase the competitive position of the Polish manufacturers of refractory materials used in the metallurgy industry, as compared to other European countries and major global suppliers. Achieving this goal will be possible thanks to the development of technology that maximizes the recovery of raw materials from refractory ceramics scrap as well as the production of significantly changed products made from raw materials and recycled materials.

The results of this research project show both product and process innovativeness, with process innovation being the dominant (key). The implementation of this undertaking is closely related to the need to increase the competitive position of the Polish refractory industry producers used in the iron and steel industry, compared to other European countries and key global suppliers. Research work under the project will be carried out by the Company's staff as well as by the AGH University of Science and Technology.
The project, in keeping with the main goal of the INNOSTAL program - increasing the competitiveness and innovativeness of the Polish economy in the area of steel industry and related sectors, forms part of the National Smart Specialization: NATURAL RAW MATERIALS AND WASTE ECONOMY

KIS 11. MINIMIZATION OF THE MANUFACTURE OF WASTES, INCLUDING THE NECESSARY FOR PROCESSING, AND THE USE OF MATERIALS AND ENERGETIC WASTE (RECYCLING AND OTHER METHODS OF RECOVERY); III. INNOVATIVE RECOVERY TECHNOLOGIES, INCLUDING RECYCLING: Innovative processing technologies for multi-material, multi-layer and composite waste.
